High Holborn

Urban Studio were appointed to design nine fully fitted out studio flats ranging in size from 35sqm to 50sqm within a five storey office development. Situated in the heart of the Inns of Court and Royal Courts of Justice the studio flats were designed to suit students and professionals alike.

Used to bringing fresh ideas to the table Urban Studio designed two typical layouts, one for each of the two sized flats. Both flats comprised open sleeping and living areas, kitchens and bathrooms.

The bedroom area in the larger apartment was cleverly concealed by storage units providing cupboard space for the bedroom on one side and display shelving on the other side for the living room. Sensitive design, materials and texture and the choice of furniture fixtures and fittings blend to provide a predominantly neutral scheme tempered by small contrasting areas of colour.

Space saving devices including foldaway beds concealed in wall to wall storage units in the smaller flats optimise the space both in practical terms and visually.

Great care was taken to provide materials which are robust and easily main- tained and at the same time cost effective.

In addition to designing and selecting all of the furniture fixtures and fittings the flats were fully ‘dressed’ by Urban Studio and ready to move into.

These well designed apartments which were immediately let on completion of the work have proven to be a great success.
